The room

Since 2009, the Hamburg branch of Instituto Cervantes has occupied a space inside the Chilehaus, the ship-prowed building the city adopted in the twenties and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spanish courses, a library, exhibitions and a steady cultural programme.

The sound

Part of the cultural programme is El Perseguidor, the jazz series rooted in Spanish and Latin American music, alongside an original-version film cycle, readings from Ibero-American authors and rotating exhibitions.

Why we play here

Because it is the natural meeting point between Spanish-speaking culture and Hamburg. Latin jazz, Cuban descarga and hard salsa are not exotic here. They are part of the repertoire this house has been programming for years.
